The plenary block ran on the opening morning. The summaries describe the subject of each lecture without reproducing the original abstracts.
TIIAME, Uzbekistan
The lecture examined how irrigation canals and conventional surface watering raise saline groundwater and waterlog settlements. It considered closed loop irrigation, conjunctive use of groundwater and canal water, biodrainage and alternative municipal supply options.
The work was prepared with Karimov A. Kh. and Umurzakov R. K. at TIIAME.
University of Toronto, Canada
The talk connected civil engineering education with the assessment of concrete structures that have been in service for decades. It argued for open ended design problems that include environmental, social, economic and safety considerations alongside technical ones.
HTW Berlin, Germany
Using recorded gaze behaviour, the lecture compared attention on straight sections with left and right horizontal curves. The findings connect road alignment to the way drivers gather information and to traffic safety.
Pennsylvania State University, USA
The lecture placed artificial intelligence in the long history of creative destruction. It looked at smart systems in construction, from generative design to risk monitoring and autonomous machinery, and asked how work and skills may change.
MGSU, Russia
The talk reviewed failures in tile systems through adhesive formulation, climate exposure and application error. It set out recommendations for indoor and outdoor work and weighed the economic case for professional installation.
TIIAME, Uzbekistan
The lecture described remote sensing archives, sensor networks and machine learning as tools for land cover, salinity, desertification and landslide assessment. It also discussed open tools such as Collect Earth for interpreting satellite imagery.
The opening addresses and plenary lectures sat on the first full day. Parallel sessions continued for the next two days, with the poster programme and the young researcher competition on 19 April.
