About TIIAME

The host institute traces its teaching and research work to the early twentieth century and remains a centre for water and agricultural engineering in Central Asia.

TIIAME began as a hydrotechnical faculty within the Turkistan State University in 1923. A separate melioration faculty followed in 1929, and the two were linked in the Central Asian Cotton Irrigation Polytechnic University. After further mergers, the Tashkent Institute of Agricultural Industry Irrigation and Mechanization took shape in 1934.

The institute added building, mechanisation, hydro energy and engineering faculties in the decades that followed. It took its current name in 2017, reflecting a wider remit that includes agricultural mechanisation.

The campus brings together teaching, laboratory and research space. At the time of the conference the institute organised its work through five faculties and thirty departments, with a large teaching staff and several thousand students.

Water management, irrigation and melioration remain central to its identity, alongside construction, energy and the applied sciences that support them.
